A Message from Mrs. Burks & Ms. Garrett

United We Learn! 
Thank you, Northwest families, for another fantastic week! Our young scholars continue to do a wonderful job arriving on time and ready to learn, and we appreciate your partnership in helping us start each day strong. Thank you for helping us set the standard for a successful school year!
⭐ Attendance Reminder: When your child is absent, please send a note to Ms. Sylvia through ParentSquare on the day your child returns to school. Your help keeps our attendance records accurate and up to date.
🚨 Safety in Action: We have conducted our first safety practice drills of the year—a fire drill and a lockdown drill. These drills are an important part of keeping our Northwest family safe. By practicing together, our students and staff learn the procedures they need to follow so they can respond calmly, confidently, and safely in an emergency.
❤️🤍💙 As August comes to a close, we are grateful for the incredible support of our Northwest families. Your commitment, encouragement, and partnership make a difference every single day. Together, we are building Dedicated, Dependable, Diverse, and Disciplined learners while creating a safe and successful place for every child to learn and grow.

Teachers will NOT see your ParentSquare message or email. You MUST call the office to make any changes. 
Also, please communicate any changes no later than 2:45 PM.

TIPS for BETTER SLEEP

  • Keep a schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. 
  • Limit screen time: Turn off phones, tablets and TVs at least one hour before bedtime. (Did you know their brains are still active from screen time up to two hours after stopping? Even when asleep!)
  • Avoid stimulants: Skip caffeine late in the day.
  • Check the room: Keep their bedroom dark, quiet, and cool.

Every minute of learning matters at Northwest! Arriving on time helps our young scholars start their day feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn. Even a few minutes missed each morning can add up to valuable instructional time lost.
We need your help in making on-time arrival the standard! Please make every effort to have your child at school and ready to learn each day.
We are closely monitoring tardies as we work together to build strong habits of Dependability, Dedication, and Discipline in our students. Being on time is one small habit that can make a BIG difference in student success!
